Wow! So I have never blogged before, so hopefully I don't screw this up. LOL! I can't believe that it is already the middle of July. Where has summer gone? So far this summer I have managed to stay really busy. I spent the last two weeks of May in Costa Rica studying abroad. I traveled with 18 other K-Staters and two Animal Science professors. We were able to see banana plantations, volcanoes, packing plants, beef farms, tilapia production, and a lot more. Growing up in the Midwest beef cattle and small grains have always been a main source of profit of the producers, but in Costa Rica bananas and coffee was. It was a really different and unique culture. I am glad I went on the trip.
Below is a picture of a few of us in Costa Rica.
After Costa Rica, I went back home to North Dakota for three weeks. It felt awesome to be at home and just relax. I really enjoyed being able to see my family. I sure do miss them when I am down here. I was also able to travel to NM for a week for the American Angus Association Board Meeting with my family. My mom and I spent the whole time shopping..dad wasn't very happy.
I ended the month of June by attending the Jr. Angus Eastern Regional in PA.
Here is a picture of a few of us before the Jr. dance.
After Eastern Regional I returned to Manhattan to begin my internship with Kansas Animal Health Department and KSU. I only worked a few days before I left for 8 days to attend the National Jr. Angus Show in Tulsa, OK. Over 1240 head were showed! It was a great week, but I was exhausted when it was over.
Currently, I am traveling around eastern Kansas visiting with vets about Premise Registration and NAIS for my internship. I start going to county fairs next week.
Until next time..take care!
